  1. Approval of Minutes
  • Motion by Diane and seconded by Danielle to accept the minutes of the previous meeting. Passed.
  1. Financial Report
  • Bridget provided the following report:
  • Bank Balance as of June 30, 2025 $20,262.84
  • Outstanding Cheques $2,610.86
  • Balance after cheques $17,651.98
  • Balance of Capital Works project $46,200 Amount paid to date $85,800
  • Motion by Danielle and seconded by Diane to accept the Financial report as presented.
  1. Board Composition
  • Terry Yaldo has indicated that he will step down at the end of this term. A discussion took place indicating that we need more new Board members.
  1. Capital Works Project
  • Bridget reported that during a meeting with Planning it was indicated that the Gateway Banners at the entrances to the BIA cannot be done due to the presence of conduits in the medians.
  • Bridget has sent information regarding the installation of poles in the Riverside BIA that also contained conduits and that a cement base for the poles was done for that project.
  • The Board feels that we have given up a lot with this project and that a way has to be found to bring about a good resolution.
  • UPDATE: Bridget met with the Planning Department and Engineering is agreeable to the installation of cement bases so that the banner poles can be installed.
  1. September Event
  • We are having difficulty getting an event planned.
  • Not much support for an event from the businesses.
  • Original plan is too big with minimum participation from businesses and no volunteers to help plan help run the event.
  • Thinking of a smaller event with an Art and Health theme.
  • Start small and build it up over the years ahead.
  • For now a smaller event will be held on September 6th as has been indicated to the businesses.
  1. Beautification
  • Terry is concerned about going onto private property to do maintenance and cleaning up of weeds, etc. We will be sending out clarification to the businesses that the BIA is not responsible for cleaning up on private property. The BIA will clean up the alleyways, but the rest of the space, privately owned, must be cleaned by the property owner.
  • It was noted that some trees on Pillette are very dry and we need a bigger container for water.
  • Terry will bill the BIA for the water that he is supplying for the current watering.
  1. New Business
  • Diane asked about an event calendar. Bridget will contact the City to see if they still do put one out.
  • It was noted that the Banner located on the side of the building coming into the BIA is badly damaged and deteriorated. David will look into the design of a new one and pricing for printing and installation.
