Minutes of Board Meeting
Pillette Village Business Improvement Association
February 12, 2026

In Attendance:  Terry Yaldo, Councillor Ed Sleiman, David Duke, Diane Beck, Tess Always and Bridget Scheuerman
Regrets:              Councillor Jo-Anne Gignac

  1.  Approval of Minutes
    · Motion by Diane and seconded by Tess to approve the minutes of the previous meeting.  Passed.
  2. Financial Report
    · Bridget provided the following financial report
    · Bank balance as of December 31, 2025 $25,050.23
    · Total Outstanding cheques $14,433.30
    · Balance after cheques $10,616.93
    · Total owing on Capital Works project $35,600
    · Motion by Tess and seconded by Diane to accept the Financial report Passed.
  3. Capital Works Project
    · Bridget provided an update and indicated that the Purchase Order for the manufacturing of the banners and poles has been issued to AngelStar with a tentative installation of Spring.
    · Bridget has been meeting with the Planning department to keep on top of the progress of the project.
  4. Paws In Pillette
    ·  The Event will take place on Saturday, May 30 between 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    ·  The Committee will be meeting and setting up the parameters of the event.
    ·  Diane indicated that she has a list of volunteers, and the Humane Society is every excited to be part of the event.  It is their 100th Anniversary this year.
    ·  Discussions took place indicating the type of event which included dog costume competition, musical sit, advice from a pet expert, colouring book which would feature all of the businesses within the BIA.
    ·  Diane has talked to a lot of the pet shops to get them to participate and she will be speaking to someone who will be able to assist with the organization of the day’s events.
    · We are hopeful that businesses will participate.
    · David has done the logo and the website will launch the event on March 20th.
    · 11 x 17 posters are being printed and will be given to all businesses to display in their windows.
    · April 10th Lawn Signs will be available for installation, and a selfie station will be available and we are asking every business to bring their pet for a pet/owner selfie to help promote the event.
    · Timed launches of the event will occur as we get closer to Paws In Pillette.
    · There will be prizes for Top Dog Costume, Pet Portraits (trying to get an artist to do this),
    · Pawcasso will feature dogs being assisted with artwork.
    · Prizes for colouring contest.  More information to come as plans are finalized.5. Marketing
    · Four businesses will be featured and we agreed to increase the fee to $25 per week to get more exposure for our businesses.
  5. New/Old Business
    ·  Grandmama’s had a brick thrown through their front door and then the perpetrators went into the store and stole cash.
    ·  This is the sixth incident within the BIA. Louis Restaurant also had their front window smashed with a brick.
    ·  Ed suggested having Barry Horrobin come to do a Safety Audit.  We had this done a number of years ago.
    ·  David will make copies of posters of people breaking into the stores.
    · It was suggested that we get Angelstar to redo the sign on the side of the building on Pillette Road.
